Privacy notice

Who we are

Legends Awaken Limited makes Bardio and runs this website, getbardio.com. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 14608801. Write to us at support@getbardio.com.

The short version

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. The only personal data it collects is the email address you give us if you join our mailing list, and you can leave the list at any time. The Bardio app sends us nothing.

This website

This site is a set of files served by Cloudflare. Cloudflare sees what any web host sees when a browser asks for a page (the IP address, the page requested, the browser type) and shows us only aggregate counts of visits by country. The trailer and the videos are files on this site; nothing is embedded from another service. Links to Steam and YouTube take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.

The mailing list

What we collect

If you join the list, we keep your email address, the date and time you joined, the page you joined from, and the wording of the consent you gave, so that we can show what you agreed to. We do not record your IP address with your sign-up, and we add nothing else to it.

Why, and on what basis

We use your address to send you email about Bardio: launch news, updates and the occasional announcement from the studio, a few emails a year. Our legal basis is your consent (UK GDPR, Article 6(1)(a)). Marketing email to an individual also needs consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (regulation 22), and that is the consent the tick box asks for. Nothing is pre-ticked, and we only email addresses whose owners ticked the box themselves.

Who handles it

Cloudflare, Inc. hosts this site and stores the list for us (Cloudflare Workers KV), under its data processing addendum, which includes the UK’s international data transfer addendum for data held outside the UK. The service that sends the emails will be named here, with a link to its own privacy notice, before the first email goes out. We do not sell the list or share it with anyone else.

How long we keep it

For as long as you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we keep your address and the date on a do-not-email list, so that we never email you again by mistake; ask us and we will delete it entirely. If we close the list, we delete it.

Leaving the list

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. You can also use the unsubscribe page, or write to support@getbardio.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect any email sent before you withdrew it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you; ask us to correct it, delete it, or restrict what we do with it; object to our processing of it; ask for it in a portable form; and withdraw your consent at any time. Write to support@getbardio.com and we will answer within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather hear from you first.

The app

Bardio does not transmit any data to us or to third parties. Your library, settings, play history, and tags stay on your device.

Bardio runs on your own device and keeps your library, your settings, and your play history there. It sends none of them to the Studio or to anyone else. There is no account, no telemetry, no licence check, and no updater of its own.

Bardio uses the internet in two cases only, and only when you ask: downloading an optional content pack, and downloading the optional sharper-ear model. Both come from the Studio's own download server (packs.getbardio.com), hosted by Cloudflare. Such a download is an ordinary web request: the server sees what any web download sends, such as your IP address and the file requested, and the Studio does not use that to identify you. Everything else in Bardio works with no connection at all.

Phones, tablets, and other devices you pair as remotes talk to your copy of Bardio over your own local network, not over the internet, and the Studio is never involved.

The full terms are in the End-User License Agreement.
